A recent study titled “Financial Literacy and Student Debt: Survey of College Students” reveals a significant lack of financial literacy among college students. The research, which surveyed 31,000 full-time undergraduates at a major public university in the Southeastern U.S., found that only 14.5% of students correctly answered all six financial literacy questions, and less than half managed to get four right. Notably, students with higher student debt performed worse, averaging 2.6 correct answers compared to 3.1 for those without debt. Business students fared slightly better, with an average of three correct answers, while non-business students averaged 2.2.
